about

"When I received the news I'd be moving away from my family and friends—a decision that wasn’t fully mine—it seemed as though summer had gone, and I had to unwillingly leave everything behind and start over. I felt extremely sad to the point of depression, and it was in these moments I coped by creating music. Preparing to say goodbye, I went with a friend’s suggestion of making an EP out of the compositions I'd made.

With not much time left, I worked on the recording for 'so long,' which was at this point still an instrumental. Next came 'huling awit' and 'start over,' and with the help of my collaborators, we finished until right before the date I'd be officially out.

Luck came, and I was able to extend my stay for around two more months. Having the opportunity to celebrate even more good music with other close friends, I called on them to collaborate with me. The EP eventually grew into an album.

'the summer turned autumn' is about feelings of love and bitterness, and about how life moves on its own, regardless of one's situation. It's about looking back at good times and looking forward to new ones.

Music has always been an unbiased tool for healing souls.
I'd like to extend big hugs and thank yous to all my friends who contributed their time and talent. You are the true heroes of this album!" - joe-chu
